Shakespeare® Offers Commercial Marine Antenna Line To European Market

Nor-Shipping 2015, Oslo, 2 – 5 June, Stand A1-65| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shakespeare Targets European Growth with Unique Range of Commercial Antennas

Exhibiting for the first time at Nor-Shipping, Shakespeare announces plans to expand its commercial business in Europe with the introduction of a unique range of radio antennas.

The antenna specialist is targeting a breakthrough in the region with a particular focus on the benefits to customers of its top-range, superior quality PHASE III SSB (Single Side Band) and VHF antennas, and innovative new 8000-H and 9000-H commercial HF/SSB antennas.

Already established as world leaders in marine antenna design, engineering and manufacturing in the commercial sector in North America as well as the European leisure sector, Shakespeare says its design expertise, strong defence and government customer base, global manufacturing and distribution facilities, and superior products provide an exciting opportunity for international expansion.

Dave Manasseh, European Sales Manager, Shakespeare UK, said: “The Shakespeare name is known and trusted by boaters worldwide for innovation, performance, quality and reliability, so we have a strong platform to develop our commercial antenna business in the European and international maritime industry.

Our SSB products have been perfected through years of close collaboration with the US Navy and Coast Guard, with the goal to provide the best possible long-range radio antennas. In addition, we have the facilities in place to service the global market. We have unique products such as PHASE III and we are easy to do business with due to our strong focus on customer service.

Radio communication is critical to vessel safety, so our aim is to show that not all marine VHF antennas are built the same. All of our commercial antennas, within our Classic, Galaxy and PHASE III product lines, are designed for use in harsh marine environments with extreme wind and temperature conditions. However, the PHASE III products, with a unique silver-plated element, are designed for optimum performance above and beyond our competition, and therefore cost more. The 8000-H and 9000-H are new products to our portfolio which can ship in tubes less than 3m and are therefore preferred by several customers in Europe.”

Shakespeare offers customised solutions and three levels of product category to best meet the needs of a variety of commercial customers within diverse applications, with SSB, VHF, cellular, Wi-Fi and AIS antennas across all three categories.

Developed through close collaboration with professionals in the civil and military markets, the highest-performing PHASE III antennas introduce a silver-plated element to the commercial market for the first time for maximum electrical efficiency that improves with age. Additional features of the flagship line with 5-year warranty include the versatile stainless steel ferrule for installation flexibility; the high-strength Shakespeare fibreglass radome for unsurpassed mechanical support; the ethafoam spacer system which isolates the radiators from vibration and moisture for long, dependable service; high-quality tinned copper inner conductors for maximum signal strength and a 12-sided facet to prevent the antenna from rotating during installation.

Chris Catoe, of the Shakespeare Antenna Group, commented: “Shakespeare has spent decades improving our technologies and manufacturing processes to ensure that our products are truly best in class. We continuously strive to find the most innovative materials that can be used to maximise performance, which include silver-plated brass elements and surface mount technology.”

The new three-piece 8000-H and 9000-H HF/SSB antennas for large vessels add to Shakespeare’s SSB range. For highest HF-band performance, the company’s SSB antennas include the heavy-duty
222-BA, which is suitable for any commercial vessel travelling in international waters, with integrated base flange for mounting in a self-supporting fashion; the self-supporting 4328 whip antenna with conductors running full length; the 5300 heavy-duty performer; award-winning 390 and 390-1 antennas; the side-fed 6390-R.

Shakespeare’s commercial VHF antennas include the high-performing PHASE III 6018-R and flagship 6225-R, a sleek antenna which will stand strong against high speeds and winds.

On command and communication centres aboard ships of the US Coast Guard, US Navy and military services and in other hostile environments where safety, dependability and longevity are vital, Shakespeare antennas’ innovation in design and technology, and quality manufacture ensure reliable radio communication in all conditions.
