Shakespeare® Introduces 8000-H And 9000-H HF/SSB Antennas At Nor-Shipping 2015

Nor-Shipping 2015, Oslo, 2 – 5 June, Stand A1-65| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New HF/SSB Antennas Simplify Logistics and Ensure Reliable Radio Communication

World leading marine antenna design, engineering and manufacturing company Shakespeare has overcome a key challenge with its 8000-H and 9000-H HF/SSB (High Frequency Single Sideband) antennas to be launched at Nor-Shipping 2015.

The new antennas meet a significant market requirement in that they are designed to be assembled in three sections making the products suitable for the express shipments demanded by commercial customers, which include shipyards, system integrators and shipowners. This also means sections can be replaced should a repair be needed, rather than replacing the whole antenna.

The 8000-H and 9000-H use cutting edge technology for a high-quality user experience, supporting safety and operational efficiency by ensuring the availability of vital radio communication in all conditions. The new antennas cement Shakespeare’s position as an innovator, developer and leader in the commercial vessel antenna field.

Designed and built to the same high quality control standards that government and naval users demand from Shakespeare’s antennas, the 8000-H and 9000-H are developed for radio communication in the harshest of environments, delivering reliable radio communication for commercial vessel users.

The 9000-H antenna is 30ft (9m) and the 8000-H antenna is 27ft (8m), though they both ship in less than 3m in length. Both antennas have a two-year warranty and have a temperature range of -55 to +60 degrees Celsius or better. Electrical connections are crimped and soldered for higher reliability and long service life.

The 8000-H and 9000-H commercial HF/SSB antennas are designed for large vessels where the highest HF-band performance is required. The new three-piece antennas easily accommodate up to 1.2Kw. The pristine white Shakespeare fiberglass radome provides years of service while the brass and copper elements ensure performance over the entire HF band. Both antennas work on a bandwidth resonant frequency of 10.8MHz.

“One of the main challenges for commercial radio antennas is actually logistics related, as long antennas can be challenging to ship – particularly overnight,” explained Franck Søgaard, Vice President of Jarden Applied Materials and the global leader of Shakespeare’s Marine group. “Our new 8000-H and 9000-H antennas are designed to be assembled in three sections, making the products more conducive for express shipments.

“The new antennas form a vital part of Shakespeare’s new product development strategy with an emphasis on providing reliable, quality products for commercial vessels.”

The 8000-H and 9000-H are specialist commercial marine antennas that add to Shakespeare’s current SSB, VHF, cellular, Wi-Fi and AIS antenna portfolio for commercial use within its established Classic, Galaxy and PHASE III product lines.
